Firefighters were called to a blaze in Glasgow’s west end on Halloween night.

Five fire engines rushed to Normal Avenue, Jordanhill, after being called to reports of a blaze at 9.43pm.

Firefighters found a bin store ablaze. The fire was extinguished and there were no casualties, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

The Fire Service is entering perhaps its busiest period of the year as Bonfire Night looms. Firework control zones have today (November 1) come into force in Pollokshields, Govanhill and Broomhouse.

Within these zones, it is a criminal offence for members of the public to ignite a firework from 1st November to 10th November. This rule applies to both private spaces such as back gardens and public areas, although sparklers are permitted.
