SEATTLE — Three years ago, the beautiful sights and scents of "pan de dulce," Mexican pastries from Bakescapade, popped up in the Pacific Northwest.

The pop-up style bakery based in the Seattle area was co-founded in October 2022 by Karen Sandoval and Cesar Martinez.

Bakescapade focuses on sharing Mexican culture through authentic flavors and also innovative creations that still have a tie to the culture.

"It's something we wanted to share with our community," Martinez said.

The "pan de muerto" (Day of the Dead bread) has a touch of orange zest and anise.

Bakescapade is part of the special grand opening of Café Calaveras , 860 Yesler Way in Seattle, on Saturday, Nov. 1.
