After more than a century of absence, wild flamingos are returning to Florida’s Everglades. The stunning comeback was, in part, sparked by Hurricane Idalia’s winds, which sent flocks soaring to the Florida peninsula. Conservationists say the birds’ choice to linger in the U.S. is proof that extensive efforts to restore the Everglades are working.
