The Day of the Dead is being celebrated Saturday at the historic San Fernando Mission Cemetery, where families, artists and parishioners are gathering to honor their loved ones with colorful altars, live performances and traditional blessings.
The Los Angeles Archdiocese partnered with the City of San Fernando to host this year’s community event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 11160 Stranwood Avenue. About 76 altars are on display, including a large altar presented by the city itself.
“This celebration was born in Mexico many, many years ago, but it has crossed borders and become something beautiful that families here in Los Angeles can share together,” said Ana Pescador with Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries, speaking to KTLA during Friday’s broadcast from the cemetery. “We invit
