The minister who championed the ACT's push to restore its right to make voluntary assisted dying law says she has been assured and blown away and by the number of medical practitioners who have signed up.

"And in that moment, you know, it all became very real to me that we have Canberrans now who are trained and who are confident in this legislation and the scheme as it is operationalised to provide that choice to people at the end of their life," Human Rights Minister Tara Cheyne said.

"You know, 10 years ago that seemed like a very, very, very ambitious concept. And now we're there."

The ACT's voluntary assisted dying scheme begins on Monday, more than 10,400 days after the Federal Parliament stripped the Legislative Assembly of the right to legislate on euthanasia.
