For Canberran Julie Collins, the capital territory is a well-kept secret.

"People who don't live [in Canberra] think that it's the most boring place of all time, but it's actually not," she said.

"Canberra's really easy to live in, it's easy to get around, it's easy to park your car, it's easy to get to really lovely open spaces and picnics and barbecues."

The ACT has topped a recent national wellbeing index from SGS Economics and Planning, with high scores in economic satisfaction, equality and rental affordability.

The ACT had an overall wellbeing score of 6.9 out of 7, with other capital cities scoring less than six.
