The New Jersey Devils agreed to a two-year, $12 million extension with veteran goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
The extension announced on Friday begins next season for Markstrom, 35, who is earning the same $6 million salary this season on the final year of his previous contract.
The Swedish-born Markstrom is off to a slow start this season at 2-2-0 with a 5.13 goals-against average and .830 save percentage.
An All-Star with Vancouver in 2019-20 and twice a top-five finisher in Vezina Trophy voting, Markstrom is 243-214-63 with 24 shutouts, a 2.72 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 16 NHL seasons with the Florida Panthers, Canucks, Calgary Flames and Devils.
