Firefighters responded to a fuel spill at Harry Reid International Airport early Saturday morning, containing approximately 5,000 gallons of jet fuel that overflowed from an above-ground storage tank, the Clark County Fire Department said.
The department at 7:06 a.m. received a report of 30 gallons-100 gallons of Jet A fuel overflowing at the airport. Upon arrival, crews found fuel spilling from the tank but determined it was being contained within a designated retention basin.
They responded with four engines, two ladder trucks, two hazmat units and additional personnel, officials said.
Fire crews established a command post and pulled exposure lines as a precautionary measure, though they were not needed, officials said.
