An urgent search has been launched for a missing Ayrshire man.

George McCaig, 56, was reported missing from North Ayrshire . Mr McCaig was last seen around 12.40pm on Friday (October 31) in Irvine.

Police say they are “increasingly concerned” for Mr McCaig as they carry out “a number of enquiries” in an effort to find him.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall, with grey hair and of medium or stocky build. It is believed he was wearing a black puffer jacket and black Adidas trousers.

Sergeant Craig Turnbull said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for George and are carrying out a number of enquiries to trace him.

“I’m appealing to anyone who has seen George, or who may have information about his current whereabouts, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
