Lenexa, Ks. -- Heart to Heart International volunteers already have boots on the ground in Jamaica. They went there to help with relief after Hurricane Melissa.
The organization was mobilizing humanitarian help even before the hurricane made landfall on Tuesday.
Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica as a category 5 storm. It destroyed several homes and businesses throughout the Caribbean. Many people are still without power.
An assessment team landed in Jamaica on Friday. They will assess the damage and determine where help is needed the most.
After they do, Heart to Heart will send wrapped flats containing medicine, generators, medical equipment, and hygiene kits.
