MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A 79-year-old Fresno man has died after he crashed his Camry into a concrete wall early Saturday morning in rural Madera County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Merced-area CHP Communications Center said it was notified of a single-vehicle crash involving a 2011 Toyota Camry just before 6 a.m. on Avenue 14, west of Road 9.
Officers arrived to find that the vehicle's driver failed to recognize the end of the roadway and said he continued onto a dirt access road, which led to a metal gate and concrete barriers.
The CHP said that the man received fatal injuries as a result of the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. It notes that although the driver was seat-belted in, the belt was improperly positioned with the shoulder strap being wo
