TYRONE, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Tyrone community banded together for one child fighting a rare condition.
At the Tyrone Alliance Church, 30 craft vendors and five food trucks gathered for the Crafts for a Cure, raising money for the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation. G1D is a metabolic condition that prevents the body from transporting glucose to the brain, resulting in seizures and delays in motor functions, such as walking and speech.
For Ashley Moore, owner of That Little Candle Shop, her daughter, Jaisa, was diagnosed with the condition at two years old. No cure has been made for the condition, but one treatment found to help is the ketogenic diet; however, it may not be suited for everyone with the condition.
