TORONTO – As the Toronto Blue Jays faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Six of the World Series, a sight familiar to many East Coasters could be seen fluttering behind home plate.
A Cape Breton flag was proudly held aloft throughout the game in Toronto on Friday by longtime Jays fan, John Chishom.
“I went to the last World Series in ’92, but my seats were a little different. They were in the 500 level, with my dad and my two brothers, behind the lights,” Chisholm says with a laugh.
Now, three decades later, Chisholm is a season ticket holder with seats right behind home plate. And with this prime real estate, he knew he wanted to shout out Cape Breton, his “favourite place in the world.”
