CLEVELAND, Ohio — Federal authorities are investigating a near miss of two aircraft at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on Wednesday.

The National Transportation Safety Board said in a post on social media Saturday that it has sent a team “to investigate a loss of separation event” between an inbound Southwest Boeing 737 and a helicopter.

The Boeing’s flight from Baltimore arrived in Cleveland at about 2:45 p.m. The Aviation Herald, a website tracking commercial aircraft issues, reported that the crew discontinued the approach because of “the presence of another aircraft.”

It is unclear how close the aircraft were or how long the investigation will take.
