Uxbridge Republican Town Committee Chairman Tomas Etzold stepped down from his position after condemning a video shared by the town’s Select Board chair that depicts former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

Chair Brian Butler shared the AI-generated video on Facebook on Sunday. The video disappeared from Butler’s Facebook page two days later.

“I know I’m gonna catch a load of crap, but this is way too funny!” Butler wrote on the now-deleted Facebook post. “C’mon you have to agree.”
