COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Quick action by volunteer firefighters helped prevent major damage after a residential fire broke out Friday afternoon on Lower Meigs Road.
According to the Colquitt County Fire Association, units from Stations 72, 41, and 12 were dispatched around 4:40 p.m. on October 31, 2025, following reports of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the kitchen area of the home. Firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control, stopping it from spreading to other parts of the residence.
Additional units assisted with overhaul operations to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and to prevent any possible rekindle.
