LEXINGTON — St. Xavier boys soccer won the program's 17 th KHSAA state championship, defeating Covington Catholic 2-0 on Saturday at Lexington Sporting Club Stadium.
With the win, the Tigers (23-2-3) have the most state titles in KHSAA history. It’s the 13 th title for coach Andy Schulten, who is 13-2 in state finals. Schulten is the only coach in KHSAA soccer history to win 13 titles and leads with 572 wins.
St. X controlled possession for most of the match. The Tigers received goals from forward Brady Youssefi and forward Trey White.
Youssefi returned to the pitch last Saturday at Bowling Green after being injured at Waggener High School in the regional semifinals after a bleacher railing collapsed following the match against Trinity.
