PINE-BLUFF, Ark. — Scoring has been Southern’s biggest issue throughout the season.
Last week, the offense finally stepped up, but a fourth-quarter defensive collapse vexed the Jaguars at home for their sixth straight loss. Putting together a complete performance is something the Jaguars haven’t achieved since August.
That all-around game still eludes Southern as it lost 40-21 to Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Simmons Bank Field. With the defeat, the Jaguars have lost seven straight games for the first time in program history.
Southern (1-8, 0-5 SWAC) started quarterback Ashton Strother for a third consecutive game, but he was replaced by Cam’Ron McCoy with 6:40 remaining in the third quarter.
The scoring total for UAPB (3-4, 2-3) is the most it has scored against a Division I opponent this
