ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a festive holiday with deep roots in Hispanic culture and is being celebrated in fine fashion this weekend at the Santa Fe Plaza and in Albuquerque's Old Town.
The free event in Santa Fe, presented by the Kiwanis Club, is a marathon that began on Friday and continues until 10:30 p.m. Saturday. With live music happening on two stages, there will be giant papier-mache puppets, digital Ofrendas, kids crafts, and a candle-lit Aztec blessing and parade. At 6 p.m., the Pixar full-length animated film "Coco" will be shown.
The festive activities will continue all weekend in Albuquerque's Old Town, including live music, face painting and crafts.
