Troy has had its athletic director on campus the whole time.
Pete Thamel, citing sources, reports the Trojans are promoting Kyle George to permanent athletic director.
George has served as the interim AD since August. He’s been on Troy’s staff since 2017 and was deputy AD for external relations before that.
He replaces Brent Jones, who left to become associated vice president and executive deputy athletics director at Georgia Tech in July.
Jones, an Atlanta-area native, had been the Trojans’ AD since 2019. He was instrumental in the hiring of head football coaches Jon Sumrall and Gerad Parker, basketball coach Scott Cross and baseball coach Skylar Meade, among others.
