ATLANTA — Flights at the world's busiest airport are delayed by up to 98 minutes, according to the FAA.

In a statement, the agency said that nearly 50% of major air traffic control facilities are experiencing staffing shortages, resulting in airport delays.

The delays and shortages come as the government shutdown reaches day 32.

11Alive reached out to leaders at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to ask what exactly is causing the delays, but has not heard back.
