Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update co-anchor, Michael Che , kicks off the segment early this week. The comedian slammed President Donald Trump and the federal government regarding his recent food stamp cutoff hours before tonight's show.

In a post on Che's official Instagram account, he voiced his opinion regarding the upsetting news. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) revealed that funding (between 8 and 9 billion USD per month) for November's SNAP benefits has run out due to the government shutdown. Beginning November 1, 2025, over 40 million US citizens are at risk of having their benefits paused for the foreseeable future.
