AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Christmas is quickly approaching, and nonprofits are working to provide toys for children this holiday season so everyone can have a special Christmas.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program has already closed its applications for this year and is now calling on the community to adopt the angels so every child can have a Christmas.

"We have seen an influx of more in the last couple of weeks of people seeking assistance. We try to get children adopted out on Angel Tree set up around the community with their gift preferences, their clothing sizes, and this is for children ages 12 and under," added Salvation Army Corps Officer Major Andera Ellis.

Major Ellis explained that when it comes to the program, they see the biggest gap in the age range of 10 to 12 years
