There’s thick anticipation and a winter chill in the air at Nathan Phillips Square.
Dozens of fans gathered between City Hall and the Toronto sign — which is alternating between red, blue and white lights — to watch the showdown. Though the outcome of tonight’s game is uncertain, the weather will undoubtedly be cold. Attendees layered jerseys over winter coats and hoodies to cheer on the home team. Many set up rows and rows of lawn chairs and blankets, joking around that they could be there all night if the game were to reach 18 innings again.
Every now and then, a fan will shout out “Let’s go, Jays!” and the surrounding crowd will respond with whoops and cheers. Some have brought airhorns or speakers, which are playing Drake songs.
With an hour until the game starts, the energy is high
