TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A tragic crash on October 30, 2025, in Tucson has left the community mourning the loss of three young lives: Josiah Patrick Santos, Sophia Akimi Troetel, and Katya Castillo-Mendoza.

The families of the victims expressed their devastation over the incident. "Three young people with their whole lives ahead of them are gone — because of one person’s choice to drive impaired and recklessly," said the families.

The families of the victims go onto say Josiah and Sophia were seniors at the University of Arizona, known for their kindness and creativity. Katya, described as energetic and compassionate, fought courageously after the crash but was removed from life support Friday night.
