The Class 4A football brackets got a surprise update on Saturday, hours after they were posted by the Oregon School Activities Association.

Philomath, which was originally slated at the No. 10 seed in the Class 4A bracket, has been removed from the playoffs after forfeiting Friday’s game against Sweet Home.

According to the OSAA website, Philomath had a student-athlete who exceeded their weekly participation limit by playing more than six quarters of play between junior varsity and varsity games without 48 hours between contests.
