It was the last full day of daylight saving time on Saturday, and in Washington it was filled with the brilliant sunlight, bright colors and invigorating air of autumn near its most magnificent, even if it was now November.
Saturday, the first day of November, the day after Halloween and the day before the return in the wee hours to Standard Time, seemed to be a day aware of its privileged position on the calendar, and willing to live up to it.
Judged solely on its measurements Saturday seemed close to the norms for Nov. 1 in Washington.
The afternoon high of 66 degrees was two degrees above the normal high for Nov. 1.
The low of 45 was chillier by a single degree than the normal low in Washington on Nov. 1.
