MURFREESBORO, N.C. — A man died in a shooting early Saturday at a Halloween party in Murfreesboro, N.C., according to the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said they responded to 121 Buena Vista Road in Murfreesboro just before 3 a.m. Saturday. On the way, deputies found a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. They pursued the vehicle into Conway, N.C., where two suspects fled on foot. One person was taken into custody for resist, delay and obstruct.
Preliminary investigation found a verbal altercation between two suspects escalated into a physical confrontation, and one person was struck by gunfire.
The victim has been identified as Dequesia J. Parker, 25. He was taken to ECU Health Vidant Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
