GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WILX) -On Saturday, community members participated in the annual Pumpkin Chuck at Fitzgerald Park, where people brought their own pumpkins to dispose of them in a unique way.
The event allowed participants to smash, catapult, and decorate pumpkins. People could also receive pumpkins by donating recyclables and nonperishable food items.
Clara Alderman, event coordinator for Eaton County Parks and Recreation, said the event started as an idea that grew with help from the maintenance crew.
“It was just a dream one day, and our amazing maintenance crew just went out and got the materials and grew from there, and we hope to grow it each year,” Alderman said.
