HERSHEY, Pa. -— It’s called the sweetest place on earth for a reason, and Saturday, for Penn-Trafford’s Mia Williams, a trip to Hershey Park afterward was just one of the sweet rewards she would reap for her efforts at the Hershey Racquet Club.

The biggest was gold, as in first place at the PIAA state tennis championships. Williams downed West Chester Henderson’s Erika Dunwoody, 6-3, 6-0, to bring home the PIAA Class 3A singles championship.

“I am so happy, I am on Cloud 9 right now,” Williams said with a huge smile. “I can’t believe it is real. I lost in the first round last year and never made it past the quarters before, so to be able to come out here and get some good wins against some fantastic players, ... I came out, played my game, and it worked.”
