BENTON COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - An 83-year-old man drowned in Truman Lake on Friday.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the man fell into the water and underneath a boat lift at approximately 9:55 a.m.

A family member jumped into the water and tried to rescue him, but was unable to exit the water.

Witnesses nearby helped in rescuing the man and the family member.

Next of kin has been notified.
