India’s healthcare industry, despite its vast consumer base and rapid advancements, continues to grapple with a shortage of trained professionals. According to Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, the answer lies in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) and technology to bridge this critical manpower gap.
"The problem in India is that we don't have enough trained manpower. We've got a large consumer base, but not enough people to service that. So the obvious answer is to be able to use AI or technology to help us navigate a lot of work where we need human skill to do," Reddy said while speaking at the CNBC-TV18's Jury panel at India Business Leader Awards 2025.
