KOKOMO, Ind. — Indiana State Police is investigating a man's death Friday at the Howard County Jail.
According to a release from the Howard County Sheriff's Office, around 5:12 p.m. on Oct. 31, Howard County correctional officers were flagged down by an inmate at the jail who reportedly told them a male inmate was unconscious and unresponsive inside a jail cell.
Correctional officers responded immediately and began to render aid to the inmate until paramedics arrived. Despite lifesaving measures, police say the inmate was pronounced deceased by paramedics at 5:48 p.m.
The inmate was identified as 29-year-old Phillip Deangelo White of Kokomo.
The sheriff's office turned over the investigation to Detective Josh Maller of ISP as well as the Howard County Coroner's Office. No foul play is
