ATLANTA — More than two dozen people rallied in front of the state capitol today over SNAP cuts.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation held a rally at the Georgia State Capitol demanding that Gov. Kemp release state funds to continue SNAP benefits in November.
PSL claims the state has $14.6 billion in reserves, with $5.6 billion in a "rainy day account."
Gov. Kemp has stated that the state dollars "can rarely be used to fund federal programs," a claim the political party calls misleading. They say it omits the governor's powers under the Georgia Emergency Powers Act.
11Alive reached out to Governor Kemp's office for comment on the rally, but we have not heard back.
