JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a young suspect is in critical condition after being shot following a police pursuit.
The shooting happened in Moncrief, but the initial call that prompted the chase came from miles away, according to JSO's Chief Alan Parker.
Chief Parker said initially, an officer was responding to a report of a stolen car out of Brentwood, which was called in shortly after 6 p.m. The car was later found to be traveling on Moncrief Road around 8th Street and confirmed by tags as stolen.
The initial officer did not engage with the car until another officer arrived to assist, Chief Parker said. Once the second police car arrived, the suspected car sped off, initiating a short chase that moved onto westbound Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
