As Halloween has wrapped up, you may be wondering what’s an eco-friendly way to get rid of your candy wrappers.
An organization in Florida is rolling out its "Unwrap the Waves" initiative.
The goal is to minimize waste this Halloween. Candy wrappers can be bad for wild animals and for the environment. Wrappers are a mix of materials like plastic and aluminum and are difficult to recycle by traditional means.
The Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Manatee Lagoon in Florida are encouraging residents to collect their clean candy wrappers in a reusable bag at home and to bring them to a candy wrapper drop-off center at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach or the Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach before Nov. 12.
