Trouble brewed for the Champlain Valley Union High School girls soccer team in the opening minutes of the Division I championship game against Colchester on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Midfielder Reese Kingsbury headed a ball off her goal line following a corner kick in the sixth minute. Moments later, center back Sierra Rainey broke up another promising Colchester bid outside the 18, and Rainey's backfield mate, Elliana Antonucci, blasted clear to midfield for Allie Barrett.

And just like that, defense would become instant offense.
