Cameron Mercer and Chris Grisolia. Gone and gone.

And Luke Ellinas and Carson Campbell — while still here — are recovering from shoulder surgery and have yet to play a game this season.

Put it all together and that’s a significant departure from last season’s penalty killing crew for the Kitchener Rangers.

Their absence has been felt.

Last season, the PK was a point of pride for the Rangers. The team owned the second-best unit in the Ontario Hockey League, operating at an 84.8 per cent success rate.
