SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Spokane Valley's brand new cross country venue hosted its first big event this Saturday, as a dozen colleges competed in the Men's and Women's WCC Cross Country Championship.
The $7 million facility has been in the making for years. Spokane Sports, one of the organizations that helped develop the facility, said Saturday's event is a soft launch for the venue, with the grand opening planned next year.
"The energy here is just wild," said Keytra Lewis, the associate vice president of Spokane Sports. "Obviously with the weather the way it is, it's still super cool to see that not only the athletes are giving it their all, but also the spectators. There's so many people here, which is awesome to see it come to life."
The venue will host another cross country champio
