CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A local food pantry is preparing for a significant increase in demand as thousands of residents are set to lose SNAP benefits this month.
Jalal Hoehler, who runs Table of Hope, said the nonprofit serves hundreds of people each week and expects that number to double. She has spent the last week stocking shelves and calling on extra volunteers to help meet the anticipated wave of need.
“It’s very difficult to even tell what’s facing us, but from the emails and the phone calls and the texts and the Facebook messages I’ve been getting...we’re expecting a huge influx,” Hoehler said.
Preparing for increased demand
The pantry’s shelves are currently full, but Hoehler said all the food will be gone by tomorrow. She wants to ensure everyone leaves with plenty of meal options
