ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — While the fate of SNAP benefits still hangs in limbo, individuals and groups in Rochester are stepping up to help those worried about where their next meal will come from.

The Trump administration’s plans to freeze payments to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, were halted by federal judges, but the delay in payouts has already left its mark on millions.

“The need for food is obviously tremendous, and with grocery prices being insane as they are and with no end in sight, and then the loss of Snap benefits on top of that, people are just really worried about where their next meal is going to come from," Earl Johnston, a volunteer for Rochester Mutual Aid Network, said.
