In the Battle of the Bulldogs, Hitchcock won the total offense battle but lost the points war, falling to Yoakum 30-26.

The loss drops Hitchcock to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in District 12-3A-I play. Yoakum improves to 7-2, 2-1.

Hitchcock had a fair amount of success moving the ball, collecting 289 yards of total offense, while limiting Yoakum to 177.

The big difference was how the teams played down the stretch. Hitchcock took a 26-23 lead with 1:43 to play when quarterback Jordan Shannon connected with Brian Harris on a 71-yard catch-and-run to the end zone.

But on the ensuing kickoff, Yoakum’s X’Zavier Barnett put his team near midfield with a 21-yard return.
