Virginia Tech built a 16–7 halftime lead but couldn’t sustain it, falling 28–16 to No. 16 Louisville on Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium. The loss dropped the Hokies to 3–6 overall and 2–3 in ACC play as they head into their final open week of the season.

Louisville, now 7–1 overall and 3–1 in the conference, mounted a strong second-half rally to stay near the top of the ACC standings. The Cardinals scored twice in quick succession in the third quarter, with touchdowns from Caullin Lacy and Keyjuan Brown turning the deficit into a lead they never surrendered.
