As expected, the Special Investigation Team of the Andhra Pradesh police on Sunday morning arrested senior YSR Congress party leader and former minister Jogi Ramesh in connection with an illegal liquor manufacturing case.
A team of SIT officials reached his residence in Ibrahimpatnam of NTR district early in the morning and took him into custody along with his associate Arepalli Ramu.
According to official sources, Ramesh was taken to the Excise Department office in Vijayawada for interrogation.
The arrest follows fresh revelations made by one of the main accused, Addepalli Janardhan Rao (A1), who allegedly confessed to the police that he had manufactured fake liquor under the guidance and influence of the former minister.
