ANN ARBOR — The Wolverines’ final drive Saturday night was exactly what they needed to avoid a stunning upset. Michigan ran out the final six minutes to prevail 21-16 over a Purdue team that is winless in the Big Ten the past two seasons.
“It was tough,” Purdue defensive back Tony Grimes said about Michigan’s final 11-play drive. “It was hurtful.”
After Michigan grabbed a 21-10 lead on a touchdown with 10:03 left, Purdue answered with a touchdown drive of its own (and failed on two-point conversion try). The pressure was on Michigan’s offense to deliver.
