IRON RIVER — A 60-year-old Iron River woman was killed Friday morning when she was hit by a vehicle on U.S. 2 near Idlewild Road in Crystal Falls Township

The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old Crystal Falls woman, was not injured, Iron County Sheriff Ryan Boehmke said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office responded to the report that a pedestrian had been struck at 10:18 a.m. (CDT), Boehmke said in the release.

The death remains under investigation and names weren’t being released pending notification of next of kin.

Assisting were Aspirus EMS, Crystal Falls Fire Department, Iron County Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Crystal Falls Township Department of Public Works.
