ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Kiwanis Club of Alexandria was serving up more than breakfast on November 1, hosting its annual pancake fundraiser at First United Methodist Church.

The Kiwanis Club is a volunteer-based organization that focuses on improving communities by serving children through local chapters.

This year’s pancake breakfast benefited Holy Savior Menard, Peabody Magnet High School, Alexandria Senior High, along with LSUA. Key Club members from HSM, Peabody and ASH sold tickets to raise money for the event.

75% percent of the proceeds go back to each school’s Key Club to use for community service projects. The remaining 25% helps fund scholarships for graduating seniors.

Mary Byrd, president of the Alexandria Kiwanis Club, explained how the fundraiser benefits students.
