WILLIAMSBURG — The William & Mary football team blocked three punts that resulted in safeties and scored a touchdown with a fake field goal en route to earning a convincing 37-7 victory against UAlbany at Zable Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After jumping out to an early 7-0 lead with a 5-yard touchdown run on a fake field goal by holder Joey Tomasso on the game’s opening drive, W&M (5-4, 4-2) added a special teams score later in the first quarter when Josh Miller blocked punt went out the back of the end zone for a safety.
Stephon Hicks and Xavier Dillard later added blocked punts that resulted in safeties early in the second quarter and midway through the third quarter, respectively. Hicks’ block was his third this season, which leads the nation.
