ROCHESTER — The Carroll volleyball team was pushed further than they have all season in Saturday’s Class 4A semi-state finals in Rochester.

After having only one game go beyond three sets in their 34 prior matches, the unbeaten Chargers played nine sets in nine hours. The distance it took to get there may have changed, but the result was the same as it had been in every match prior: a win.

The Chargers fended off Westfield in five sets — 23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 15-8, to reach the semi-state finals against Crown Point, winning in four sets — 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23 — to clinch their second straight trip to the Class 4A state championship.

Carroll (36-0) will face Plainfield at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Class 4A finals at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
