The benches cleared in the fourth inning of Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday after Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Andres Gimenez was hit by a fastball thrown by Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski.

The left-hander's 1-and-2 fastball jammed Gimenez, who appeared to jump and wave his hand in the direction of the baseball in an attempt to get hit by the pitch. The pitch didn't hit him, but next ball thrown by Wrobleski did hit Gimenez.

Gimenez and Wrobleski gestured toward each other. Both benches emptied. Relievers from both bullpens ran onto the field.

Although the confrontation did not escalate into a physical altercation, players on both sides had to be restrained while umpires converged on the infield.
